Xilisoft iPod Rip is used for transferring files to and from the iPod without having to use iTunes. It allows users to backup the iPod’s media library so user’s have a copy of all the files in the event that the iPod crashes. The application also supports file transfers on Apple devices, such as the different versions of the iPhone. In addition to transferring files, the application can also be used to access the device like a hard drive. The device can be displayed in explorer view so users can see all the files and folders with ease. When transferring files, the library display can be sorted according to song artist, genre, or album.
The program’s user-interface is similar to that of iTunes. The left pane shows a list of the contents in tree-view. Users can view the folders, sub-folders, and their contents. The right side of the window shows general information for the device connected, such as the device type, capacity, version, serial number, and the format. One of the features of the program is the preview player that is located at the lower left side of the window. The player can be used to preview audio and video files before they are transferred to the device or before they are backed-up to the computer.
